What the brood?

Honey bee brood basics:



The ones that look like fine grains of rice in the cells are eggs, the C shaped ones with white liquid around them are larvae with royal jelly (The white liquid). The picture below is the frame once the brood has been sealed over, a nice solid pattern with a biscuit colour to it indicates a good healthy colony. The eggs hatch into larvae after 3 days, the larvae are then sealed around day 9 and the new worker bee will emerge at around day 21. Drones will emerge at around day 24 and the queen will emerge at around day 16.
